2. Description
The work foregrounds an abandoned cathode-ray tube (CRT) television that is no longer in use. The exposed tube reveals its internal mechanisms, laying bare a complex circuitry that may appear unfamiliar to contemporary audiences who effortlessly operate mobile devices equipped with microprocessor chips. In this way, the interior components of the television and speakers perform a form of self-representation.
On one level, these devices may appear simply as technological artifacts belonging to a particular historical moment. Yet once the outer shell of design trends—embodied in casings, brand identities, and stylistic conventions—is stripped away, they reveal themselves as concentrated masses of energy capable of sustaining their own intrinsic vitality.
The artist introduces an external device—a microphone—that allows the surrounding sounds and movements of the environment to function as a sustaining breath for the system, establishing a communicative channel through which the work continues to operate. Through this configuration, the installation evokes a structure of energetic circulation reminiscent of that found in living organisms.
Sound energy captured by the microphone is translated into visual and sonic transformations within the system. Depending on its intensity, incoming sound activates geometric movements of atomized particles displayed on the CRT screen, generating dynamic forces of attraction and repulsion. At the same time, the system emits its own vocal expression through the speakers—modulated through FM synthesis—releasing sound energy back into the surrounding space and toward the audience.
