2. Description

The Process by Which the Language of Sound (Audio Signal Processing) Translates into the Language of Image

This work seeks to reveal sound and image as a single energetic continuum by minimizing the layers of mediation and representational “packaging” typically involved in experiencing art through media. By reducing the transformative stages introduced by intermediate media, the project emphasizes the fundamental unity of sonic and visual phenomena.

As a performer, I generate small electrical sparks within micro-temporal units, sustaining or transforming these signals through techniques of delay and feedback. These digital signals are directly converted into visual signals, forming the temporal flow of the moving image. Designed for live performance and improvisational expression, the system allows the internal parameters of the algorithm to be manipulated in real time through a MIDI controller.

The initial moment of electrical collision and spark—an energetic point of origin—is structured to pass through multiple stages of energetic transformation. Ultimately, the system enters a phase of dissipation, which in turn leads to the emergence of a new spark, establishing a cyclical structure. This process metaphorically evokes the cosmological cycle of birth, transformation, and extinction that characterizes the generative rhythms of the universe.

The project consists of a video work created for an audiovisual installation, along with documentation of the live performance.
