2. Description
This work criticizes human-established system and ignorance thereof, and puts it in the frame of ‘deconstruction’. The structure of aggregation and saturation, which this work criticizes, is called and set as ‘Belle Faust’, and this work points out the aggregation topology of current human society in aspect of molecular evolution and the historical approach of humanity. With this thematic consciousness, I employ multidisciplinary intersections of sound electronics, molecular biotechnology, dance theory, and postmodern philosophy.
The nucleic sequences of SARS-CoV-2(coronavirus) are basic materials for this work. According to which and how many of amino acids are taken by SARS-CoV-2 virus, the audio and visual media comes to be affected. Artificially, by reversing the time we have passed through since the COVID19-pandemic, the audio and visual media are controlled and affected between ‘normal state’ and ‘total deconstruction’. The process is interwoven with five states of transition (six genomes in total), from the genome of an omicron variant to the genome of the first outbreak (Wuhan, China), when the initial virulence of the coronavirus was high, human society has experienced ‘lock down’, while the heart of the earth breathed, to point out humanity thrown off balance from an ecological standpoint.
With this process, the sound is morphing based on band pass filter processing to deconstruct the harmonic order of the Russian and American national anthems (two of them represents two giant military formations – RUSSIA/USA) into a textural flow, and the semantic order of national address of two presidents of RUSSIA/USA into blocked and micro-sampled pieces of words, which fails to convey the meaning. And the video adapts the labanotation symbols, the language of modern dance, to represent the dance language of bees (an ecological indicator species), representing the transitional process from the state of bee-cultivating to CCD(Colony Collapse Disorder). This process criticizes human history of development and points out the isolated bio-ecological system on earth.
In collaboration with two modern dancers, this work experiments and expands its thematic consciousness from exhibition to performance.
